This package does not include an installation tool. Clips may be installed manually by swimming down to the drain cover and stretching the clip across the cover until the clip snaps into place.

If the distance between the holes on your drain are from 6-3/8″ to 6-5/8″ apart, the D1 LARGE clip will fit

One clip per drain cover is probably all you need for the Hayward Navigator, the Kreepy Krauly, the Barracuda, the Pool Cleaner and most other suction cleaners.  In some cases two clips are needed, installed in a plus pattern.

The expected life of the clip is 2 to 3 years.

    Recently my Barracuda suction side pool cleaner has been getting stuck on the main drain of our in-ground pool. No matter how many times I moved the pool cleaner away from the drain, it always returned, so I decided to try the Main Drain Clip-on. It really works! First of all, it is important to purchase the correct size clip. I needed the large size. I thought I could install the clip by swimming down to the drain but that was unsuccessful(and a bad idea), so I purchased the installation tool and that worked fine. The first day after installation I kept checking the pool all day to make sure the clip was working — and it was. The cleaner has never again got stuck on the main drain. Delivery of my orders was prompt and I am very pleased with the clip and the installation tool. I would highly recommend both!

    We have a Hayward Cleaner and a Dolphin Robotic Cleaner. Works great for the Hayward Cleaner which would get stuck for hours unless I noticed it. Have not tried the robot yet but know that it also will have no problem with the low profile design. I used 2 per drain in a crossing pattern just to make sure it would work. I believe I could have used one per drain but they are inexpensive so I opted for 2 just for insurance. Wish I knew about this invention years ago. The cost of power on Maui is about 5 times the cost on the mainland.

    Like many others, my Navigator pool cleaner was spending to much time resting on the main drain cover. A week ago I learned of this clip and placed an order for two of them. In three days I received them and after reviewing a few “You Tube” videos, installed them (one clip needed a little filing to fit which I learned from a video). The results were immediate. I can’t say enough good things about this product. Ordering on-line was user friendly and easy; the price of the clips & shipping was reasonable; receipt of the clips was fast; underwater installation of the clips was easy and the results are great!

    I recently re-plastered my pool and since then the Barracuda pool cleaner kept getting stuck on the new elevated main drains. I install two of the extended clips on Friday – 2 nights – no babysitting needed and my pool is cleaner. Love your product – installed in 2 minutes!     Aloha, I installed 2 Large D1 clips on each of our old style Hayward drain covers. Unfortunately our cleaner still managed to high center even with 2 clips per drain. So I removed one clip and added 2 screws about an inch high about 1 3/4″ from each end as a test. If it worked I was going to replace the self taping screws with a small bolt. It worked! In fact they worked so well I just left my test clip with screws on it for 3 years plus. They do get brittle over time but I am happy to say much longer than advertised. I believe adding a higher bumper to each end thus preventing the cleaner to high center would make this product perfect for the old type Hayward pool covers. Until that day I will reorder some new clips and add 2 stainless steel bolts.

    I installed the clips in a “+” pattern on my two main drains. (Note of advise for future customers: When swimming down install exhale all your breath; the first clip is the most difficult. When installing the second clip you can hold onto the first clip to hold you down).
    When the Hayward Shark XL hit the clips head on it got hung up. I installed one 8″ section of “Noodle floatee” about 6-8″ below the water line. No more issues.

    Unfortunately, can’t recommend. Installed one. Cleaner continued to hang on drain. Bit-the-bullet and bought another (even the installer to make that easier). The first pass by cleaner… new clip’s hook broke off, leaving it to float up in two pieces. I’m done. Will look for other solution.

    I installed the large D1 clip and it works perfectly! My pool drain is 9 1/2 feet deep and I could not have installed the clip without the installation too. I had to wait for absolutely no wind blowing so the water was completely still so I could easily see the main drain. Thank you for designing this device for my pool!
